Sachet kya hai?
Sachet is RBI ka official portal for reporting:
- Illegal/unregistered lending apps and NBFCs
- Recovery harassment by registered lenders
- KYC fraud and Aadhaar misuse by lending platforms
- Ponzi schemes, deposit fraud
It's the only path that triggers actual RBI investigation. Twitter rants and consumer forum posts don't.
Pehle decide karo: kaunsa channel sahi hai?
| Issue | Where to file |
|---|---|
| Recovery agent harassment (registered lender) | Banking Ombudsman |
| Illegal/unregistered loan app | RBI Sachet |
| Threats, abuse, criminal intimidation | Police 112 + cybercrime.gov.in |
| KYC misuse / fake loan in your name | UIDAI + cybercrime + Sachet |
| Data leaked, contacts harassed | DPDP grievance + Sachet |
Step-by-step Sachet filing
1. Gather evidence (before opening the form)
- Lender name, app name, package ID (Play Store URL)
- Loan agreement / KFS (if any)
- Disbursement bank statement entry
- Screenshots of harassment messages, missed call logs
- Audio recordings (uploaded as MP3/WAV, max 5MB each)
- Your government ID (Aadhaar/PAN) — for verification only, not posted publicly
2. Open Sachet
Go to sachet.rbi.org.in → "File a Complaint".
3. Fill the form
- Complainant details: real name, real PAN. Sachet doesn't accept anonymous complaints.
- Type of entity: "Lending app" / "NBFC" / "Unauthorized digital lending platform"
- Nature of complaint: pick the closest match — usually "Harassment by recovery agent" or "Unauthorized lending"
- Description: keep it factual, dated, no emotion. Use the template below.
- Upload evidence: PDF preferred for documents, MP3 for audio.
4. Description template
On [DD-MM-YYYY], I downloaded "[App Name]" (package: [com.example.loan]) from Google Play Store and was disbursed ₹[X] for a tenure of [Y] days. The Key Fact Statement [was/was not] provided.
Beginning [date], the lender's recovery agents began [calling outside permitted hours / contacting my family / using abusive language / threatening FIR]. Specific incidents:
- [DD-MM-YYYY HH:MM] — [phone number] — [brief description]
- [DD-MM-YYYY HH:MM] — [phone number] — [brief description]
These actions violate the RBI Fair Practices Code §6 and the Digital Lending Guidelines 2022.
Evidence uploaded: [screenshots / audio recordings / call logs].
I request RBI to investigate and take appropriate action.
5. Submit + save the reference number
Sachet emails a reference number. Save it. Without it you can't follow up.
What happens next
- Day 1-7: Acknowledgement email.
- Day 8-30: RBI forwards to the lender (if registered) or to enforcement (if unregistered).
- Day 30-60: Lender must respond. If unregistered, RBI may issue takedown notice to Play Store.
- Day 60+: Escalate to Banking Ombudsman if no resolution.
What Sachet won't do
- It won't refund you. That requires civil suit or settlement.
- It won't remove a "Settled" tag from CIBIL — that's a separate dispute.
- It won't immediately stop calls — file a police complaint for that.
Faster route for harassment + threats
If recovery agents are calling family or making criminal threats, don't wait for Sachet. File at:
- Cybercrime portal — cybercrime.gov.in — same-day response possible.
- Local police — call 112, ask for non-cognisable report (NCR) at minimum.
- Then file Sachet for the regulatory action.
Free tools we built
